Text ads on p2pnet

p2pnet news | Advertising:- Hi all:

If you’ve been reading p2pnet within the last 1/2 hour, you’ll have seen green dotted lines under some words.

They’re links. Hover your mouse over them you’re taken to various advertisements and what you saw was a test. The ads will go up properly within the next couple of hours.

Because if p2pnet is to stay online it has to pay for itself in one way or another.

p2pnet isn’t an entrepreneurial or business site. It’s a commitment: an attempt to unspin at least some of the terribly distorted corporate material disguised as news and information. Offered up as fair and accurate, it’s anything but.

I’ve also complained about intrusive advertising such as ads that pop up in your face, forcing you to click them to make them go away.

I’ve been working with IntelliTXT to present ads which are relevant, and which won’t distract readers.

Text underlined in green is the result.

Usually, with these kinds of ads, when you pass your mouse over them they bring up a display box, whether you want it or not, and it often has to be taken down by force, so to speak.

However, there’s a two-second delay with p2pnet IntelliTXT ads. After that they, they automatically disappear.

In addition, we’ve worked to include ads which are relevant and which readers might actually be interested in.

We hope this new approach works for us all.

For now, thanks to Bob Bryant at the p2pnet end, and Franck Zamora at IntelliTXT.

Cheers!
Jon

3 seconds is a good idea. hope it brings in sufficient money.

  2. Jon Says:

Actually, we just tried it out and the delay was inadvertently built into the display, not the hover.

That’s being changed and now I’ve seen the ads in action, so to speak, I think two seconds is long enough for the delay.

    Cheers!

Hey Jon! Well, i’ve been having a bit of a problem… this has nothing to do with text ads, but i dont know any other way to get in touch with you.

    Anyways-

I rarely even use my PC since i got my playstation 3. my PS3 basically has replaced my PC.

well, Every website i go on to with the Playstation 3s browser works perfectly. i love it.

    Except this one…

It works fine for reading. the page size is perfect! but i cant type messages… every time i try to type a message in the “Reply” box, once i click “Submit Comment”… it loads, and BOOM. Error 404 – not found. i also get a link to try out the “Mobile” p2pnet. so i did-

it did the same thing. I have no idea why. maybe the wii wont do it- I dont know if BOTH the console browsers dont work, but the point is- the PS3 one doesnt. :D
Anyway. Just reporting that error. i dont know how hard it would be to fix, but you know… whatever. :D
