SpiralFrog: hopping back?
p2pnet news | product news:- SpiralFrog, the ludicrous corporate download application created to try to cash in on the P2P sharing phenomenon without actually sharing a anything, looks set to try again.

“The company says that it will be ready to go live later on this year, and has sent out invitation emails to a select group of private beta testers,” says Mashable.
Select group
Anyway, “After a pretty severe executive shakeup, and too much media coverage to save face with its delayed launch late last year, many speculated that SpiralFrog would never happen,” continues Mashable. “With the ad-supported model, which shows ads while you wait for your music to download, many speculate that SpiralFrog won’t be successful either.”
Universal Music Group is there with the “majority of its offering of 770,000 songs” which, “could be somewhat limiting, if SpiralFrog`s hope is to encourage music discovery and anti-piracy”.
Other potentially limiting factors, “include the fact that songs are Windows compatible only, meaning you can play songs on your computer or Windows Media-compatible player, but not your iPod,” says the story, adding:
“Were all hoping that SpiralFrog can pull through and prosper, partnering with additional music labels along the way.”

As far as I know it’s been out of beta for close to two months in canada. I have tried it. It reccently went up to 700,000 songs/video’s. It is what it is. You sign up, download a file manader app and download songs. You have so many seconds to type in a code to ensure your human. you have to renew your memberaship once per 28 days by taking survey questions. P2P is less hassle for drm free mp3’s but for what it is i didn’t mind it.
