p2pnet ads: the saga ;p
p2pnet news | Announcement:- Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and IntelliTXT has figured out how to activate text advertisements without interfering with readers.

It’ll work like this: if someone accidentally scrolls over a link, the display time to will be a tiny .5 seconds, and I think that does it.
In addition, you’ll only be seeing ’standard’ ads, not the kinds which are increasingly part of a growing number of online offerings offerings —– spurious ‘all you can eat’ MP3 or movie downloads, for example, or ways to increase the size of various parts of the human anatomy, male and female
What will you be seeing if you click on word or words underlined in dotted green?
Nothing offensive.
Here’s a list of some of the advertisers:
Adobe – Multiple products; AMD – Multiple products;Blackberry; Blu Ray; BMC lBoost Mobilel Brocade; CA; CableVision; Camtasia; CDW; ComCast; Microsoft; Hitachi; HP; Digital River; IBM; Intel; Sun; NetApp; Sprint; Toshiba ; Trend Micro; Xbox; Ubisoft; HD DVD; HGTV; and, American Express.
I’d also like to thank those who emailed me saying they understand why I need to include advertising, and also the people who posted comments saying much the same thing.
Sorry for all the to-ing and fro-ing
Cheers! And all the best …
Jon

I hate ads on websites but if it is the difference between having ads or no p2pnet I’d definately prefer the ads.

I think this is a perfect idea. Having been a regular visitor to p2pnet for the last few years and keeping up with your struggle to keep the site running, I fully understand the need the raise some income. This seems an excellently non-invasive way of doing so.
Keep up the good work Jon.

I agree with Chris in the key of non-invasive. As has been mentioned, I understand the need of income to keep the site going.
Still the advertising industry does not always play fair, many taking far more attention than I am willing to give them. They are after all, after my money, it’s not I after them, so it is at my disgression not theirs that I will or will not consider a product. Being abused of viewing space with flashy ads, offending products, or other such items will ensure not only will I ignore them but I will put them on block not to see them.
I can live with ads that are subtle; I will not condon the over-bearing ad company as long as the computer is at my command and not theirs.
