CNET music service
p2pnet.net News:- CNET has started using its CNET Download.com for music searches and downloads.
CNET Networks says CNET Download.com began building a music dbase just last month, “providing artists the opportunity to easily upload their songs”.
Its site is launching with basic functionality, enabling users to browse, find, download, and listen to featured music from its initial collection of “thousands of songs,” it says in a puff piece, going on:
“During the year, as the song database grows significantly as expected, the site will undergo rapid development as CNET Download.com adds community, discovery, and technology features and functionality. User feedback will be integral to this development process.”
CNET says it’s an “unbiased resource” and that CNET Download.com’s user base includes a heavy following of music fans, as evidenced by the fact that the “Audio and Video” software category steadily ranks as the number one download category on the site.

A+++ to CNET for helping provide a new medium. This is just one more hack with an axe at the Music Industries Monopolistic Tree.

I read about it on another site, have already downloaded some cool stuff, and am going after more. It reminds me in a way of Epitonic which was a great site until it got buggy.

That’s probably because the founder of Epitonic is the lead project manager at music.download.com
