AT&T wireless phone kiddie control
p2pnet news | Mobiles:- The options have just expanded for parents who want to not only manage how their children surf online, but what they do with wireless phones as well.
With millions of children, “some as young as kindergarteners,” getting cellphones, starting today, AT&T is introducing kiddie control which’ll give parents the power to, “block text messages and calls to and from specific numbers and also during certain times, like when kids are in school,” says the Wall Street Journal, going on:
“In addition, parents can filter access to certain content on a child’s phone – such as chat and dating Web sites.”
But is it all about keeping children safe?
Parents of a “cell phone-toting child” also share a, “certain dread that arrives with the monthly wireless bill,” says the San Francisco Chronicle.
“Did the kids go overboard on text messages? Did they call too many people – or perhaps the wrong people? Did they download too many ring tones?”
The new $5 a month AT&T service means parents will be able to regulate, “the number of voice minutes and text messages their child uses in a month, whom they can call and receive calls from, what time they can use the phone and how much they can download,” says the story.
Smart Limits will be available on any hand-held device sold by AT&T.

This is a great idea and gives parents another option other than prepaid plans for limiting their children’s usage.
