Apple-Pepsi-RIAA ad a failure

p2pnet.net News:- Here’s some excellent news.

The absolutely appalling Apple-Pepsi-RIAA Sleaze Bowl campaign wasn’t exactly a blazing success, it seems.

Apple ceo Steve Jobs has blamed some of the failure of iTunes sales to live up to his expectations to the fact not all of the bottle top downloads that were available were redeemed.

You’ll recall that 16 teenagers identified by the RIAA as ‘copyright violators’ were pilloried in a BBDO ad which had Pepsi ‘giving’ away 100 million iTunes songs as a promotion.

But only five million were actually downloaded, according to a CNET report here.

Not to worry, though. Customers with ‘winning’ bottle caps have until Friday to redeem their free music tracks, CNET Katie Cotton, Apple’s vice president of worldwide corporate communications, saying.

Terrific.

In the meanwhile, rumours that Apple, Pepsi and the RIAA are demanding a refund from BBDO are vicious and untrue.

If you see Steve Jobs, throw an egg at him for all of us. God what a windbag, he ditched his girlfriend because he got her pregant back in the day. Fuckin loser.

What an utterly useless and inflammatory article… how effective do you think Microsoft’s campaign to get into gov’t offices by ‘previewing’ full copies of their software to employees working on Microsoft-related cases/projects/properties. That’s a blatant attempt and offensive. The RIAA circumvents the law in order to fatten the bottom line (bullying children, grandparents, and high schoolers does not good PR make)

So instead of being an industry sycophant, why not try to do some research into the legality of the RIAA’s tactics and THEN comment on the ad. Sounds like something a real journalist might do instead of an armchair (uninformed) cynic.

Spot on dumbass… not even relevant MORON! And by us you mean you and the finger stuck up your ass, right?

    …on Kazaa Lite. :)

Why would I waste time trying to find a winning Pepsi bottle? In the time it takes to look for a winning bottle I could be downloading many mp3’s.

I used to buy music but not anymore. Screw the record labels.

Despite your verbose reply, I still find your argument to this article pretty… how should I word this… full of hot air.
They report on P2P news, this is P2P news, so what’s the problem? Ya, that’s what I thought.
