Pavarotti succumbs to cancer

p2pnet news | Music:- Opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti has died at the age of 71.

“Hailed by many as the greatest tenor of his generation, Pavarotti passed away during the night at his villa near the northern city of Modena after a long battle with pancreatic cancer,” says Agency France-Presse.

“His condition progressively worsened up to this morning,” the story has Antonio Frassoldati, one his doctors, saying.

“He was always totally conscious of the situation, he always sought to fight the disease … and he was very calm.”

“I’m not a politician, I’m a musician,” he told the BBC Music Magazine in an April 1998 article about his efforts for Bosnia, says the New York Times.

“I care about giving people a place where they can go to enjoy themselves and to begin to live again. To the man you have to give the spirit, and when you give him the spirit, you have done everything.”

Pavarotti was my first real introduction to classical music, apposed to the modern crap churned out today, and will be missed by many i hope.

  2. SB Says:

To bad he died this week. I saw him in concert fall 2005 in Tulsa, OK. Pavarotti was a great tenore and will be sorely missed.
