The BBC on Xbox

p2pnet news | Product News:- Bill and the Boyz are apparently hoping to strike a deal with England’s BBC which, if it’s successful, will add a distinctly UK flavour to the Xbox.

Microsoft is, “intent on turning its Xbox 360 video-games machine into a digital entertainment hub offering films, TV shows and high-definition programmes,” says Times Online.

It’s already selling video content in the US via its Xbox 360 video-games console and, “Last year the BBC signed an agreement with Microsoft to explore ways of developing its digital services,” the story says, going on:

“Ross Honey, senior director for media at Microsoft’s content and partner strategy group, confirmed the company had spoken to the BBC and several other European media companies.”

But, “While this would definitely be one in the eye for Sony, which is currently ramping up its own video download plans for the PS3, I’m not sure how I’d feel about shelling out more money for BBC programs that essentially I’ve already paid for as a TV licensee,” says Games Digest.
