Nettwerk, Vancouver Sun, online promo
p2pnet news | Music:- Canada’s Nettwerk Music and Vancouver Sun tore a page from a marketing book originally written by Prince and Britain’s Mail on Sunday.
In June Prince, who’s proved he’s as clever in the business arena as he is as musician, organised a deal through which the newspaper gave away free copies of his Planet Earth CD.
Total madness, said critics. But Prince was laughing all the way to the bank.
“As of 4 p.m. Sunday, 10,712 people had downloaded the free Seriously Westcoast Life Vol. 1 compilation created by the Vancouver Sun and Nettwerk Music group,” the two, both based in British Columbia, said.
It was the “first time that a specifically compiled collection, not available anywhere else, has been given away by a major media outlet digitally”.
But don’t get too excited.
It was a limited time offer —- and it ended on Sunday.
