EU preserves hallowed UK pint
p2pnet news | Off Topic:- “I’ll ‘ave a pint ‘a the best!’ – has been heard in British pubs ever since there’ve been British pubs.
Then came the metric system and somehow, ‘I’ll ‘ave 0.568261485 liters!’ doesn’t have quite the same ring to it.
But no worries.
The UK and Ireland will be allowed to keep units such as the pint – and miles, yards, feet and inches on roads.
The European Commission says it’s proposing to, “indefinitely extend the use of supplementary indications next to metric units,” based on the results of a public consultation in early 2007.

I have to admit this is a good thing. Having to go into a pub to order a “half litre” sounds far too gay (and expensive as they’d charge you the same for the half litre as they do for the pint. There might not be much difference but it adds up over several pints).
