Spector murder jury hits impasse
p2pnet news | Music:- In another high-profile case involving a corporate music industry celebrity, the jury in Phil Spector’s trial in Los Angeles is at an impasse, according to Associated Press.
The world is being regaled daily with stories about Britney Spears, now said to have a chronic substance abuse problem, but accusations lodged against Spector, 67, a legendary producer, are considerably more serious.
He’s alleged to have shot and killed B movie actress Lana Clarkson.
Are the charges merited?
“According to legend, Spector once forced Dee Dee Ramone to play bass guitar at gunpoint; he once let off a gun in the studio while recording John Lennon’s album Rock ‘n’ Roll; and he once showed his wife a gold, glass-topped coffin in his basement, and told her that she would die there if she ever left him for a member of the Rolling Stones,” reported Times Online in March.
In his murder trial, the judge told lawyers he’s considering allowing the panel to consider a lesser charge, says AP.
Superior Court Judge Larry Paul Fidler has now told attorneys, “he was reconsidering and might instruct the jury to consider involuntary manslaughter,” says the story, adding:
“The judge sent the jury home with instructions to return today, possibly to have the lawyers reargue part of the case.”
