Snoop Dogg admits weapons charge

p2pnet news | Music:- Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr, aka Snoop Dogg and formerly Snoop Doggy Dogg, has promised to donate $10,000 to charity after admitting he had a dangerous weapon at an airport.
He was sentenced to 160 hours of community service and three years probation.
Aged 35, Snoop was arrested at Orange County’s John Wayne Airport in 2006 when a collapsible baton was found in his luggage.
“Originally, the hip-hop star had claimed that the baton, which airport security detected in his carry-on luggage, was a prop for a music video and that he did not know it was a forbidden item (having been so careful to stuff all his liquids into a little plastic baggie, and all),” says E! News.
His attorney, Donald Etra, says the felony conviction would be reduced to a misdemeanor after one year if Snoop Dogg doesn’t violate the law, according to the story. Originally, he’d claimed that the baton was a prop for a music video and that he didn’t know it was a , “forbidden item (having been so careful to stuff all his liquids into a little plastic baggie, and all)”.
After this arrest, “it was only a month before Snoop got in trouble again, this time on charges of drug and gun possession,” says ,eFluxMedia , going on he pleaded no contest in April to felony gun and marijuana charges and agreed to five years’ probation and 800 hours of community service.
“This year, in March, Snoop was denied a visa by British authorities and could not hold already scheduled concerts in the UK,” says the story, continuing he was also arrested in Sweden the same month, “on a suspicion of minor drug offenses and he already had a reputation as troublemaker after a May 2006 incident at Heathrow Airport in London”.
That time, he and five other men, “were arrested after a fight broke out when some members of the rapper’s party were denied entry to British Airways’ first-class lounge,” says eFluxMedia.
Seven police officers, “received minor injuries and one suffered a fracture to the hand,” says the item, adding, “British Airways said it had banned the rapper from future travel on the airline.”
“The veteran performer is slated to fete the positive aspects of hip-hop alongside Raekwon, Talib Kweli, Mobb Deep and others Nov. 29 at the J.A.M. Awards at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom,” says E! News.
” Cosponsored by radio station Hot 97 and the Jam Master Jay Foundation for Music, the event is, according to cohost DMC, not just for music fans but also for those who want to see rappers respond to their critics with a “resounding voice of hope and inspiration.”
Why ‘Snoop Dog’?
Says the Wikipedia:
“His mother nicknamed him “Snoopy” as a child because of the way he dressed and because of his love of the cartoon Peanuts; he took the stage name Snoop Doggy Dogg when he began recording. He changed his name to Snoop Dogg in 1998, when he left his original record label Death Row Records and signed with No Limit Records. But he still can be called Snoop Doggy Dogg, which he does in his songs, or by other rappers.”
