Demonoid IS NOT DEAD!
p2pnet news | P2P:- Reports to the contrary notwithstanding, Demonoid hasn’t been killed by Canada’s RIAA.
Demonoid down, p2pnet reported yesterday, going on:
The CRIA (Canadian Recording Industry Association of America), Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG’s RIAA clown (sorry, clone), is noted more for its failures, which are legion, than its successes, which are few.
However, it may have scored against BitTorrent tracker Demonoid.
We went on to quote Torrentfreak in The Netherlands as the source and today, when you go to http://demonoid.com/, you still get: “The connection has timed out”.
So is this because the CRIA was able to intimidate Demonoid’s ISP?
No, says Demonoid. It’s down, but not out.
“May have” was the operative phrase and, “Ok folks, here it is,” says a chat log with Torrentfreak’s Ernesto, going on:
Demonoid is down. It has been for around 2 day almost. The reason is down is unknown, and is still unknown. It HASNN’T beam RAIDed, shutdown, terminated, deleted, burned, mamed, all thrown under a bridge. There had been speculation as demonoid,com whereabouts, well, the rurmors are false.
The chat goes on to seriously slag Torrentfreak for reporting the CRIA was behind Demonoid’s alleged demise and correctly concludes:
Just for the record, the CRIA (despite the name) does NOT represent Canadian artists, and the Canadian music industry. It is an AMERICAN Association based in Canada to represent the RIAA here.
Actually, guys, it isn’t even American.
The CRIA, RIAA and all the other alphabet Big 4 organised music cartel organisations around the world are run by EMI (Britain), Vivendi Universal (France) and Sony BMG (Japan and Germany), with Warner Music bringing up the rear as the only US label. And even that’s run by a Canadian.
Meanwhile, a lot of people will be relieved to know Demonoid isn’t dead and will be eagerly looking forward to its early return.

Come on guys it just makes sense. The big media industries NEED to start making more money. For instance, how is the movie industry going to make back the millions of dollars they pay our favorite actors, a fraction of the salary we pay teachers or even professors, if they dont control the sharing of the intellectual property they rightfully own, eventhough they themselves didin’t create it. Big box office hits are only bringing in a couple hundred million in the first week these days., now how is the movie industry supposed to stop froom going bankrupt when people are downloading thier limitiedly exposed product. What about the poor music industry, though profits have still been increasing over the last few years, they could be making a least a couple hundred million more a year thjjan they are. Its hardbreaking to see an industry susatain steady growth, without ever achieving a mind numbing spike in sales, a real pity. RIAA, PLEASE take away our means of sharing knowledge, and limit us to only experience that which this wonderful capitalist society has allowed us the means to afford. Please continue to allow those of us on the lowest end of the socioeconomic scale fund your multi miliion dollar movie deals, and finally, please allow us to single handedly pay for lil wayne’s new platinum grill. I’m a torrent user, I’ve downloaded plenty of copyrighted things, and guess what? It IS theft. I know that when I download an album without paying for it, I am stealing, not just from the record company, but the artist. As a result, the record industry is dying. Maybe it’s a good thing in the long run, but for now it is taking money from a lot of people, most of whom are not close to rich. The thing that disgusts me is that you people are acting like you’re Robin Hood or something, or that you’re doing something brave by stealing. I’m not trying to convince anyone to stop using torrent sites, etc–I use them myself. I just wish some of you would give a moment’s thought to what it is you’re actually doing. The way i see it is the music industry have not kept up with modern technology – I.E How long have MP3 players been around ? Broadband internet connection ? people have acces to downloading lots of different media now days and the music – film industry are soooo slow to catch up with new ideas and ways to sell things . Why hasnt a major record label set up a bittorrent site with a low monthly fee for downloading albums not just single mp3s ? So what you see online is what you get . Also torrent sites are a great way of getting yourself heard ( music wise etc) if your producing your own music. In Short i would be happy to pay a monthly fee (SMALL !!) if the product is there but as it stands its not ….its just overpriced and too messy..

Should companies start offering media digitally at sensible prices piracy would become pointless. How much did thousands of miles of tape cost to produce? How much do DVDs cost? think about transport, warehousing, rent, staff, supply chain problems etc. Now imagine studios running a demonoid style download where you pay for membership or pay per download p2p style. How much should that cost by comparison? After high start up cost, very little. so where are these sites? That could be selling audio and visual DRM free for up to 2.99? oh funding millions of dollars worth of legally dubious activities in a bid to catch out others in legally dubious activities. No matter if you use a third party, two wrongs don’t make a right.
Piracy exists because the market has changed dump the RIAA and create the new business model you’re holding back.

I understand both sides of this discussion. Those who think what would happen if i create a software and all the ideas get stolen. Would u like to work thousands of hours for one film/music/program/etc and its getting stolen just in a few seconds.
Well I don’t represant the “good” side here. I also want demonoid back. Torrent’s are strong agent because i think its kind of balancing the market. Those who are sooo popular with thousands of dollars are so popular that everybody will download their stuff. But those who want to raise as good as those have simply no chance because all these popular companies make the newcomers invisible. So to get such stuff u need buy it. I think most will buy it than downloading it because its too new.
However, there are sooo much ways to get these files u want. Limeware,rapidshare,usenext, etc. Some are free some are not. Those who are free are slow in downloading and those where you have to pay (just a few dollar!) are megafast. So if you pay 3$ to get ur stuff in 3 sec or waiting a whole day doesnt matter. But why espasially against demonoid??? Rapidshare is much faster in sharing files. Let demonoid. Its senseless anyway fighting against piracy. Just watch all these Torrent sides which are listed up.

The reason i use demonoid is due to the content holds…for me that is ‘old horrors’ 70’s 80’s obsure rareitys..BUT i did’nt just take,take,take that would be wrong(for MY principles)i have uploaded some ultra-rare movies also-It feels good to give!!(some of them had no ‘owners’ or ‘the copyright ended’)

Well I’ve read much and much topics according to demonoid. The most say demonoid is down by the CRIA the other say they have Hardware issues, the other say the connection is cut and other say they are relocating anywhere so they are down for the moment.
The disussion at the time doesn’t help at all. If u are against or not u can’t change stuff which is goin on with demonoid.

Well, the entertainment industry would have lost a lot of money from me alone if it wasn’t for torrenting…I have gone out and brought most of the excellent stuff I have downloaded for original copies and I am not the only one that does this…Shows like Rome and Deadwood, I would never have seen were I live but after downloading them on demonoid, I have since brought box set seasons 1, 2 and 3 of Deadwood and 1 and 2 of Rome, not to mention over $2000 of other things like documentaries and TV shows like “I’ Claudius and Masada” and things like the TTC Audio Files…went and brought them after being introduced to them on the net…I would never have known otherwise.
The entertainment industry makes a lot of money of off people like me who download bit torrent illegally and yet they make a lot more from me as a result, I’m convinced the bloody greedy fools will loose money if they could doing away with torrenting, lol…

Man! I’m getting some great upload activity from demonoid torrents. Thats really Kewl! You can take down the site. But it still lives! The community is still active! …..this is a great time to seed. too bad it wont show up on my ratio.
I dont understand what all the fuss is about, I still go to the movies. I still go to my favorite music store. Demonoid is my hobby, Im on it most every night. IT IS SIMPLY FUN.
