Beyonce drops Malaysia show
p2pnet news | Music:- Only weeks after Gwen Stefani “reluctantly agreed” to meet Malaysia’s strict dress codes, Beyonce has cancelled her slated concert there.
A “scheduling conflict” has been given as the reason.
Now she’ll shift the performance to Jakarta in Indonesia, “a Muslim country with more relaxed rules,” says the BBC.
The show is scheduled for November 1 and moves to China four days later.
That has the potential to be interesting as well.
As p2pnet write recently, “Commercials featuring sexually suggestive language or behavior or featuring scantly dressed women were ‘detrimental to society,’ China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) said in a circular.
Knowles isn’t famous for being overdressed. But a although sex TV ads are out in China, a certain casualness of garb is presumably acceptable for stage shows ;p
In Malaysia, “Clothes cannot have obscene or drug-related images or messages, and female performers must show no skin from the tops of their chests to their knees,” says Billboard, adding:
“Promoters and sponsors must pledge in writing that they accept and will inform the performers of the rules, as well as ensuring that they follow them.”

I’m sorry, but I kind of like Malaysia’s stand on clothing. I don’t know if that sounds hypocritical coming from a guy who wears clothes that are considered ‘controversial’ in my area, but too many women show WAY too much skin on these streets. I’d enjoy seeing them having to suffer in Malaysia. Too bad, Beyonce…maybe next time???
