Apple sued over iPhone price cut

p2pnet news | Mobiles:- New York’s Dongmei Li is so pissed at Apple for dropping $200 from the price of the iPhone that she’s suing the company for $1 million in damages.
She says Apple violated “price discrimination laws when it slashed the price of the 8-gigabyte iPhone by a third, from $599 to $399, within two months of the gadget’s June debut,” says Associated Press.
When Apple boss Steve Jobs suddenly chopped $200 off the price of the high-end iPhone not long after the units were launched, and abandoned the lesser version altogether, “I feel like I have been ripped off by Apple,” USA Today had Laura Carter.
“They should give all the early adopters a gift card of $200 to use in an Apple store.”
Now “the price reduction injured early purchasers like herself because they cannot resell the product for the same profit as those who bought the cell phone following the price cut,” AP has Dongmei Li saying in a lawsuit filed on September 24 in the US District Court, Eastern District of New York.
Interesting argument.
“The lawsuit also named AT&T Inc., the exclusive carrier in the U.S. for the iPhone, and alleged the two companies’ required two-year service contract for the iPhone constituted unfair business practices,” adds the story.
Neither Apple nor AT&T are saying anything at this point.

This is so funny… so did she REALLY want the iphone’s price to stay as expensive forever? When would be the best moment to lower the price?
She decided on her own to buy the iphone, no one put a gun to her head to buy it…
*sigh* Americans… they want to fix EVERYTHING with lawsuits….

I think every one in the US should sue every one else in the US for 1 million in damages caused by the other breathing their air.

I know that I have said this before, but some people really need to get a life, and stop trying to cruise through life, suing companies for doing what they normally do!
As someone posted earlier, it’s not like someone pointed a gun to her head to buy the phone (though I do think that the 2 year minimum contract with AT&T is a bit overboard), but prices for products change, as to the way they are marketed. I am actually VERY surprised that they were willing to sell the product for $200 less, when they most likely knew there were still enough gullible people who were willing to pay the full price for the product.
Next thing you know, there will be people suing Petrol/Gas stands for lowering the price! Or no, let’s sue Sony for lowering their PS3 prices, or Microsoft for selling a cheaper version of XBOX360! Hold on, the PS3 and XBOX 360 both use proprietary systems, and you aren’t supposed to “unlock” them to use 3rd party software. That would be worth a simple 2,3 million dollars…
But back to reality, The US really needs to do something to stop idiots from being able to sue, just because they made a bad judgement call, especially when it does not affect their health!
just my two cents

Iphone sales were a disappointment. That’s why they lowered the price.

They should be sued for selling overpriced locked down pieces of junk and bricking people’s phones. Avoiding this behavior is getting hard because Crapple isn’t the only company selling locked down junk.
