UK stone head puzzle solved
p2pnet news | Off Topic:- Mystery solved.
Strange, primitive-looking stone heads which started appearing in gardens in northern England were, in effect, part of a clever promotion campaign designed to highlight the work of carver Billy Johnson.
They were accompanied by the words, “Twinkle twinkle like a star does love blaze less from afar?”
The head on the right is an example of large and small one-off carvings created out of beach pebbles.
“Large pieces of sandstone are often recycled from building waste or fly-tipping,” says Johnson on his Pardox Carvings webpage.
“Fossils are found at the ‘Crocodile’s Armpit’ near Whitby.”
The story was picked up broadcast around the world.
The power of imagination —- and the Net.
And from look of his online catalogue, Johnson’s creations are selling well.
