Ohio school gun rampage
p2pnet news | Crime:- In another American school tragedy, a 14-year-old boy yesterday shot two teachers and two other students before killing himself.
He’d already been suspended for fighting at the SuccessTech Academy in Cleveland, Ohio, but made it into the school, wielding two .38-caliber revolvers.
Michael Peek, 15, Darnell Rodgers, 18, and teachers David Kachadourian, 57, and Michael Grassie, 42, were taken to hospitals with gunshot wounds, says the Cleveland Plain Dealer, going on:
“Rodgers, who was hit in an elbow, was treated and released.
“The other three victims were listed as stable late Wednesday. Grassie underwent surgery for a chest wound. Peek was shot in his abdomen. Kachadourian was hit in the back and the bullet came out of his chest.”
Police also found a duffel bag filled with ammunition and three knives in a bathroom, according to the Associated Press.
“Wearing a black Marilyn Manson concert shirt, black jeans and with his fingernails painted black, Coon walked down the hallway, cursing and firing shots. Witnesses said he moved through the converted five-story downtown office building, working his way up through the first two floors of administrative offices to the third floor of classrooms,” it says, adding:
Another student, Doneisha LeVert, said she hid in a closet with two other students after she heard the principal’s alert. She said she heard about 10 shots.
LeVert said Coon had made threats in front of students and teachers last week, but she said she believes no one took action.
“He’s crazy. He threatened to blow up our school. He threatened to stab everybody,” she said. “We didn’t think nothing of it.”
As Coon ran through the building, “shooting helter-skelter,” students ran for their lives, “frantically looking for places to hide,” says the Cleveland plain dealer.
“He said he’d shoot everybody dead,” it has 10th-grader Aaron King saying.
In the panic, “hundreds of students and teachers found cover in closets, under desks and even in a freezer,” it adds.
