Lohan friend Ronson vs Perez Hilton
p2pnet news | Music:- Lindsay Lohan, hopefully on the road to recovery from her self-admitted dr
ug and alcohol addictions, now has another problem to contained with.
One of her friends, Samantha Ronson, is suing so-called ‘celebrity blogger’ Perez Hilton for defamation, “after he repeated a report that first appeared on the Web site CelebrityBabylon.com,” says Associated Press.
Hilton, real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr (right), should be deposed by lawyers for Ronson, who sued him for reporting cocaine found in Lohan’s car after a traffic crash belonged to her, judge Elihu M. Berle has ruled.
Ronson’s lawyers want to ask Hilton/Lavandeira who controls www.perezhilton.com - described as Hollywood’s Most-Hated Web Site - to find out, “where he got his information for his Web posting on Ronson,” says AP going on:
The judge also directed that the questions be limited to whether Ronson is a public figure, which would give her the added burden of showing Hilton knew the statements were false or published them with reckless disregard for the truth.
Hilton’s lawyers argue Ronson had injected herself into the public eye and made herself a public figure by appearing often in public with Lohan. Ronson’s lawyers deny she is a public figure.
“The CelebrityBabylon.com posting allegedly defamed Ronson by stating she planted drugs in Lohan’s car and set her up for press photographers hoping to shoot the actress while intoxicated in exchange for money, Ronson alleges,” says CBS2, adding:
“Hilton repeated the statements in a June 1 posting that also said she had been ‘toxic’ to Lohan, according to Ronson’s suit, which states that Hilton wears a sweatshirt that says ‘Blame Samantha’.”
