RIAA’s Cary Sherman disses Ray Beckerman

p2pnet news | RIAA News:- Recording Industry vs The People’s Ray Beckerman (left) is really getting to ace RIAA spinmeister Cary Sherman.

“Who ya gonna believe, Ray Beckerman, or the Register of Copyrights?”

That’s Sherman, Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG’s principal US reality adjustment specialist and president of the Big 4’s RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America).

He was responding to Media Wonk’s Paul Sweeting, confessing there’s a legal issue to appeal in the case of Capitol v Thomas, “but he’s not worried about the outcome”.

Like he’d admit it if there was?

Sherman’s job is to present black as white, hand-feeding the corporate lamescream media with mis- and disinformation. And he ranks up there with US government spokesfolks as an outstanding dissembler.

Says Sweeting:

“Beckerman is the lawyer who runs the Recording Industry vs. The People blog and a vocal critic of the RIAA’s strategy of pursuing litigation against individual downloaders. In recent posts, he criticized the Thomas judge’s now controversial instruction to the jury that merely making a file available to others on a peer-to-peer network infringes the copyright owner’s exclusive distribution right, whether or not an actual file transfer takes place.”

Sherman subscribes wholeheartedly to the PR and propaganda maxim, There’s no such thing as bad publicity.

“Insofar as this has gotten some press, basically anything that reminds people that [unauthorized downloading] is illegal, and can have consequences, is good for the cause,” media Wonk has him saying.

However, the ‘unauthorized downloading is illegal’ principle doesn’t apply to everyone.

Ask Edgar Bronfman jr, the man who runs Big 4 member Warner.

“Insofar as this has gotten some press, basically anything that reminds people that [unauthorized downloading] is illegal, and can have consequences, is good for the cause,”

We will teach the RIAA soon that Corrupting our governement our justice sytem and trampling our constitution and harassing the inocents will have some very very serious consequences!

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Notice how 99% of these cases only exist in america? Does it suggest there is a problem with the law, and possibly the courts?

  3. Reader's Write Says:

“Who ya gonna believe, Ray Beckerman, or the Register of Copyrights?”

That is a question, not an answer. Denotes limited intelligence.

  4. Reader's Write Says:

Hmmmm. Who am I gonna believe, Ray Beckerman, or the Register of Copyrights?

On one hand Ray has been telling the truth like it is.

On the other hand, current copyright law doesn’t state anywhere that making available constitutes as infringement.

So who am I gonna believe?

I’m gonna believe that CARY SHERMAN SUCKS LIKE A VACUUM.
