It's because those artists are money-hungry.

If the following conditions are met, then I would support the RIAA:
1) They have proof that a certain well-known artist is making $0 in revenue and has to sell his house, car, and all of his or her posessions to live.
2) The prices of CD's drop to $1-$3 CAN.

Since that's never going to happen, I'm not going to support the RIAA.

Downloading MP3's certainly does not Starve the Artists as the RIAA claims.
What a Bunch of Lies! They're likely many Folks out there, who do not buy many CD's anyway, if any at all, so there is no Money lost that Way at all!
If I where an Artist, I would be proud if People downloaded & Listened to my Talents!

TrulyDownloading is in no way different than like it was back in the 80's, when Friends copied a CD or Record on to a Tape!
And by the Way, Downloading MP3's is not like Stealing CD's at all, after all it's a vastly Compressed Format + it has less Quality than the Original CD Recording.

Those Artists who create & Composse Music for People's Enjoyment especially deserve to be Supported like, direct CD's or Downloading from the Artists themselves with less Cost, than the Greedy RIAA & their Assosciates. Don't forget Folks that the RIAA has a History of Price Fixing!

Downloading music without paying should not be illegal. The artists do not need the money that bad. They are rich enough so that it shouldn't matter if people download music without paying. The RIAA needs to calm down and leave people who file share or download music alone. The RIAA should not be able to sue people who download illegaly. Face it, if they are easily capable of doing it, the people who download music without paying (like me) will continue to download music. If they are so intent on stopping illegal music downloading, the they should only be able to sue the sites. As long as it is posible to download music for free, I and many others will continue to do so. (by the way, I don't care if the artists or the music industry doesn't get any money at all)
