Because there’s a vacancy now Skype billionaire Nikolas Zennstrom is no longer chief executive officer of the online phone company.
eBay admits that it paid too much for Skype and the, “$1.39bn (£700m) write-off pushed eBay to a loss of $935m for the third quarter compared with a profit of $280m in the same period in 2006,” says the Telegraph, going on:
“eBay paid $4.3bn for Skype in 2003, justifying the price with a prediction of “anticipated rapid growth of Skype’s active user base”.
“However, eBay brushed off the news with a forecast that fourth-quarter sales will now beat Wall Street’s expectations …”
Meanwhile, MySpace has done a deal with eBay under which Skype will provide voice chat services.
