Little doggies, China censorship, ‘tough love’

p2pnet news | Freedom:- Lately, I’ve been including ‘celebrity’ posts to tempt people to p2pnet.
The idea is to possibly clue the new visitors in to Net issues they might otherwise not be familiar with.
Among yesterday’s articles were DeGeneres Mutts & Moms site ‘overwhelmed’ and Censorship in China: special report.
The first was a cute little tale of a cute little doggy-woggy named Iggy and its unfortunate experiences with, and later without, TV star Ellen DeGeneres.
The second was a report of long and detailed investigation undertaken by a brave Chinese Net technician and its title, Journey to the heart of Internet censorship, pretty well sums it up.
Now, I run this kind of paper in full whenever I can because I believe the time to get people to read is when they’re reading, not to ask them to go somewhere else. And I always clearly link to, and cite, original sources not just once but several times because I believe just as firmly that once people have read something, most of them will head over to the originating site to check it out for further goodies.
By 3:30 PM Pacific the doggy post had been viewed 1,075 times and attracted 17 comments, some of them long, detailed and passionate.
By the same time, the story on Chinese censorship had been viewed 102 times, and there were no comments.
The doggy story did well because it was picked up by mainstream sites. But the story on oppression in China wasn’t about Ellen and Iggy, so it languished..
Meanwhile, a third post featured RIAA sicko Cary Sherman saying suing people is just ‘tough love’. It was at 170 views with 7 comments.
Says Recording Industry vs The People’s Ray Beckerman of Sherman:
He is one sick puppy.
Where is the ‘tough? ‘Tough’ isn’t a gang of multinational corporations ganging up against a single mom with no money. ‘Tough’ is the brave lady who stood up to those thugs.
Where is the ‘love’? Ruining people’s lives, deposing children, oppressing poor and working people and students and kids and hurricane survivors and disabled people.
This man should get help.
They don’t have clinics for morally warped RIAA employees.
It’s tough, love
The doggy story did well because it was about a teensy terrier. So naturally, it was picked up by mainstream media.
But who cares about all those people in China who can’t write about the likes of Sherman whose organisation is, to all intents and pourposes, state sponsored without fear of being thrown into jail?
And who cares about the 30,000 innocent American men, women and children savaged by the RIAA and the other so-called ‘trade’ units of its ilk on behalf of Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG, the members of the Big 4 organised music cartel?
By 3:49 am Pacific, this morning, the scores were, respectively:
- Little doggy - 1,325 visits, 19 comments:
- China censorship - 186 visits, 0 comments:
- Cary ‘Tough Love’ Sherman - 362 visits, 14 comments:
Makes you think, dunnit?

The problem about that China’s censorship article is not whether the Chinese want to say something. It is that they are scared about the result. Just as indicated in that paper, the net police are everywhere, people have already lost the confidence to show their true ideas in front of the whole world.
That is pity, but that is just the truth at the moment..
