Disney: ‘engine of cultural decline’

p2pnet news | Movies:- The Christian Filmmakers Academy which, “trains aspiring filmmakers and promotes the making of films with ‘biblical values’,” is unhappy with the Walt Disney company, says Reuters.

It’s became an, “engine of cultural decline after Walt’s death,” says the group, quoted in the story.

A two-day analysis of Disney came as part of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival and Third Annual Christian Filmmakers Academy.

“Christian filmographers will be taking a hard look at the influence of Disney on American culture,” said the Canada Free Press before the festival, going on:

“During a three-lecture symposium on Disney, the CFA’s faculty will dig deep into the corporate and artistic legacy of the communications giant often accused of being the most anti-family media conglomerate in the world.”

Disney’s relationship with the US Christian community, “has been strained over the past decade over issues such as Disney policies considered friendly to gays, although Christian groups in 2005 halted a nine-year boycott of the compan,” says Reuters.

“What we really see is a decline in the ethics and standards of where (Walt) Disney was coming from,” the story has Academy founder Doug Phillips saying. “We are making the case that there is a departure toward politically correct filmmaking that has a negative effect on family.”

Jeez! The only thing I dislike more than rabid IP-fundamentalists, is rabid religious fundamentalists.
I guess an all-out war where they utterly destroy each other is too much to hope for.

USA don’t need more “family values”, ethics or even morality. It needs some god damned common sense first! (and a president with an IQ above 30)!

That, my friend, is where you are completely wrong. Without those you don’t have any hope for common sense. Lets try for some better education too.

I sincerely hope the ‘American Taliban’ doesn’t get any more powerful than they are right now. I don’t like most of the junk they put out either, but Disney is 100% harmless.

This is gliding out of topic, but anyway.
Common sense is what tells you that a mountain is higher than a hill, and thus is harder to climb; coal-14 slowly breaks down over time, and thus you can use it to age dead tissue, that no longer replaces it’s coal-14, etc. etc.
Ethics, morality and the precious “family values” are tied to abstract concepts like idiology, politics and the rantings of a millenia-old fictional book called the bible.

Now, when the self-appointed “morale elite” (the religious nut-jobs) say that Intelligent Design is a valid scientific theory, they don’t say it because they lack ethics; no, they say it because they lack common sense!

  6. Dinotruth Says:

The San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival has “biblical values”? There are numerous reports that the founder of that organization, Doug Phillips and his “Vision Forum” are lacking in not just biblical values but even just good business ethics.

There are a lot of exposes on Doug Phillips’ film frauds, like this one for example, Raising the Allosaur. You can also click my name for a link to a page with more Doug Phillips film fraud articles.
