I read somewhere were it was like a 2-3 year investigation. Just think if they would have shut it down back then how many millions of cds may have been sold instead of downloaded. (yeah right)

Its sad to see a site like that go down. It had lots and lots of cds by small indie bands that are next to impossible to find anywhere even if you wanted to buy it. I know a few bands personally that have there cds uploaded to Oink. Some of them didnt even know that. One band I saw at a local show and I told them that I had come across their cd on the site and thought they were pretty good. Not only did I end up going to the show but I also bought their cd.

As far as the prerelease stuff being uploaded to Oink first that bull. They pretty much hit all the torrent sites the same day. And its not a pay site and no music is hosted by the site. Hopefully when they actually look at what is hosted on teh servers they only find .torrent files and no actual copyright infringment music on it.

Im sure soon they will start saying torrent sites are being run by terrorists and organize crime. They already mention that actual cd/dvd counterfitting rings are.

I really hope that the admin/owner was money to fight this. Someone really needs to get this to court and say that torrent files being hosted are not the actual infringing music.
