p2pnet.net News Feature:- Guillaume Champeau, who runs Ratiatum.com, p2pnet’s opposite number in France, and p2pnet editor Jon Newton have decided there’s so much neat stuff happening that they owe it to their respective readers to trade items every now and then.
Here’s Champeau’s first contribution.
The French RIAA – the SNEP (Syndicat National de l’Edition Phonographique) – has released two posters that it will use to convince file sharers to cease and desist,” he says.
Hervé Rony, its director, said that the SNEP will sue file sharers unless these posters convince file sharers here in France to mend their ways.
Obviously, the French music industry is fed up with being told to f*ck off so now the file sharing sinners will have to face jail, they say.
I doubt if these posters will garner love and compassion for our poor music industry : )

These posters are the most honest thing I have seen to date from the music industry regarding how they feel about their customers and the artists/songwriters they have under contract for that matter… Like we didn’t already know that. It is good to see them being straight, truthful, and unambiguous for a change.

I’ve been telling the music industry to fuck off for 5 months and counting now. That’s how long it has been since I last bought music. I plan on continuing to tell them to fuck off for several more months…..probably years.

lol nice, it’s almost as if they made it for both end-users and artists, based on history prob more apt for their artists.

I will never spend money on music from any of these rotten companies. Their end is near, and I doubt anyone will miss their rotten business practices.

It’s great fun – Pathetic, but great fun – To watch the leech industry make complete asses of themselves yet again.
They seem unable to comprehend that we, the consumers, are perfectly willing to pay the musicians. What we WILL NOT DO is fill their greedy pockets.
I say F*ck ‘Em! Throw me in jail if you will, but you’ll never get my money.
On that note, several artists have begun to sell their music indpendently via the web. Lets all support them, shall we =)

They’re a trip, but if they’re for the French, why aren’t they written in that language? Hmm, maybe they think all music pirates speak English?

It’s been 5 years for me. The last time I bought a cd was when amazon sent me a coupon. I still buy used vinyl though.

Yeah I live in France and the music industry has come to a point of utter ridiculous first of all labels have decided to produce one main shitty thing (star academy for one of them), investing everything in this obscene insult to art and music, and screw all other artists because they sell less records. Radios here have a quota of 40% of all aired music must be in french which they also impose on record labels making it impossible for anyone who sings in english such as me and my band to succeed here…
I discovered you through the TV show but unfortunately they concluded on how wrong downloading is which is not my opinion but thats another debate…
Anyway awesome site I’m totally with you
