Hackers can divert Vonage calls: security firm – Reuters
Internet phone service from Vonage Holdings Corp is vulnerable to attacks by hackers, who are able to intercept calls to the company’s subscribers, a security firm said on Wednesday. Sipera Systems of Richardson, Texas, said it had informed Vonage of the problem more than a month ago, but the company had not responded to the warning. Vonage spokesman Charles Sahner declined comment.

Strong growth in sales of flat panel LCD monitors drove a 37.6 per cent year-on-year increase in PC monitor sales in China, according to a new market survey. With sales of traditional CRT monitors plummeting, LCD sales almost doubled, rising 92.5 per cent, said an analyst from research firm, IDC. In all, 8.18 million monitors were sold during the third quarter of 2007. The unprecedented surge in LCD sales was in part an unforseen effect of an ongoing government crackdown on internet use. China’s government is trying to increase its control of the population’s internet use and also prevent access to websites that authorities see as undesirable.

My SQL has laid out its software road map through 2009, including some code contributed by Google and security improvements that are due in MySQL 7.0. Earlier this year Google signed a Contributor License Agreement, which provides the legal framework under which MySQL can include code from another company in its database, MySQL co-founder and Vice President David Axmark said on Tuesday. Google is secretive about the distributed architecture underlying its services, but it’s known to be one of MySQL’s biggest users, running hundreds or even thousands of its databases worldwide.

UAE consumers may not be able to purchase the officially-released iPhone, as the UAE regulator would bar Apple from establishing any exclusive network services within the UAE market. This could be ‘indefinite’, Gulf News has learnt. The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has said that it will not allow any company to establish an exclusive right to IPhone services with either of the two licensed telecom operators in the UAE.

RIM rolls out Facebook for BlackBerry – Reuters
BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd has launched Facebook software designed especially for its smartphones to make it easier for users to browse the popular social networking Web site. T-Mobile USA has been chosen as the first carrier to provide the new software to its customers, RIM said on Wednesday. The application will let users receive Facebook notifications and messages automatically and scroll through them quickly, just like the e-mail service for which the BlackBerry is already well known. Users can also read and compose messages even while off line, RIM said.
