Molson’s iPhone screw-up

p2pnet news | Mobiles:- Boy, is Canadian beer company Molson’s face red!
It set the hearts of Canadian Macolytes pitter-pattering when it announced it’d be giving away much-hacked iPhones as part of a Quebec Molson Export “Twist and Score” marketing effort.
The iPhone would be available only on the Rogers network, said the website, according to the Toronto Star.
But, “while Rogers Wireless Inc. is widely expected to be the launch carrier for the iPhone in Canada because of its compatible network, the country’s largest wireless carrier said today that it doesn’t have any iPhone-related announcements to make yet,” says the story.
“I don’t know where they got it from,” the story has Rogers spokeswoman Odette Coleman saying.
“It’s not from us.”
Ahem. Cough, cough.
Canadians wanting an iPhone currently buy them them online, or from friends in the States, the way they should be - that’s to say “unlocked”.
Or they simply unlock them themselves using one or other of the various hacks readily available online.
Meranwhile, Apple admits its more than a quarter of a million people have bought DRMed-packed iPhones - and then set them free

but the new Linux phone may be a option if apple don’t open the iphone up to run your own applications.
