Sprint unlocks California cellphones
p2pnet news | Mobiles:- Sprint cellphone users in California will soon be able to use their mobiles on any network.
But only if their phones are CDMA (code division multiple access technology) compatible.
Neither AT&T or T-Mobile use CDMA.
To settle a class action alleging it unfairly restricted its wireless phones, Sprint will provide unlocking code to former customers, says ConsumerAffairs.com.
Sprint will also include information about how to unlock phones into its terms of service, says the story.
Current and former Sprint customers in California who bought their phones between August 28, 1999, and July 16, 2007, “are eligible to receive the unlock code, provided they do not have any outstanding bills due to Sprint,” it states.
