Robert Goulet: dead at 73

p2pnet news | Music:- Camelot star Robert Goulet died Tuesday in Los Angeles yesterday, aged 73.

Goulet, whose parents, Joseph Georges Andre Goulet and Jeanette Gauthier, were French-Canadian, and whom Ed Sullivan once called the “American baritone from Canada,” died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.

He was waiting a lung transplant after being diagnosed with a rare form of pulmonary fibrosis in September, says the Hollywood Reporter.

Goulet spent much of his youth in Canada and hosted a popular variety show called “General Electric’s Showtime,” says CTV.

His “rise to fame started at the age of five,” says the Wikipedia.

“At a family gathering, Goulet’s aunts and uncles blackened his face with burnt cork and prompted him to do Al Jolson impressions.”

The rush of visitors to his home page had forced it offline by this morning.

  1. Barrie Ward aka The Canadian Geezer Says:

His ‘Masculine’ (I can still use that word in these politically correct times can’t I) rendition of ‘Camelot’ on the Ed Sullivan show still lingers in my fast fading memory …

May he rest in peace … and thank you for the gift of your voice to these and many others ears and hearts over the years.
