Colbert for President!

p2pnet news | Politics:- “I shall seek the office of the president of the United States,” Stephen Colbert said recently, intimating he would, if called, step in to replace the reigning comedian.
Now, “More than a million people have backed comic Stephen Colbert’s fake candidacy in the 2008 US presidential election on social-networking website Facebook,” says the BBC, going on:
“In nine days, more than 1m users joined an online group set up after the Colbert Report host announced his bid. Tens of thousands of other Facebook users have joined about 500 groups supporting the comic’s candidacy.”
He’s running as a “favorite son” candidate in South Carolina, where he plans to “compete” in both the Democratic and Republican primaries, says CBS News, going on:
“And though he might not be a real politician, he’s already got one part of the craft down pat: making promises he can’t keep.”
He promised fans, if elected, he’d, “crush the state of Georgia” because “Our peaches are more numerous than Georgia’s. They are more juiciful.”
When recently asked what party affiliation he’d adopt if he tossed his hat in the ring, “Both,” Colbert replied, according to Comedy Central.
“I can lose twice.”
And in a guest column for Maureen Dowd in Sunday’s New York Times, Colbert wrote: “I am not ready to announce yet – even though it’s clear that the voters are desperate for a white, male, middle-aged, Jesus-trumpeting alternative.”
Definitely stay tuned.
