RIAA attacks Iraq soldier’s wife

p2pnet news | RIAA News:- “They have been conducting a side business, I would call it, and organized scheme of quasi-legalized extortion and they are working it against ordinary persons …”

‘They’ are Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG in the shape of their RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America), and making the statement was lawyer Michael Caldwell representing RIAA victim Laura Beer, the wife of a US soldier serving in Iraq.

“In a lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court, the Recording Industry Association of America claims Laura Beer illegally downloaded music on Kazaa, a peer-to-peer file sharing network,” says WTVM 9 from Columbus, Georgia.

Court documents, “show the user profile Beer supposedly used, under the name ‘Hill-13-E’,” says Beer’s attorney, but:

“They have no knowledge of who Hill-13-E is, actually they had no knowledge of what Kazaa was, they’ve never had an account,” said Caldwell.

Beer vows to fight until she wins, or she’s “dead and gone”.

Caldwell also says Laura Beer isn’t the only person, in his words “victimized” by the RIAA, quoting posts on Ray Beckerman’s Recording Industry vs The People.

(Cheers, Ray)

  1. Paulus Says:

Good picture and it says it all.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Laura Beer is a hero just like her husband and regardless if one agree about the war in Iraq.

Even if her job there in the US does not seem as dangerous it is just as important as the fight against El Kada.

The major entertainment companies are terroristes and until now they have caused more dammage to our society than El Kada controled by his pig in chief Ben Laden just like some low life such as Cary Shitman, baywhol, or Glueman are controling the RIAA/ MPA/CRIA . . . .

Her too we need some M16 guns.

  3. Reader's Write Says:

The next picture should have a modified photo of Binladen wearing riaa t-shirt. He would be the perfect spokesperson for their wonderful company.

  4. Screw_RIAA Says:

The R.I.A.A., the M.P.A.A. and the B.S.A. are our domestic enemies.
Sharing is *NOT* piracy. I back Laura Beer 100%. She deserves a medal of freedom award.
The R.I.A.A. and the M.P.A.A. KNOW that we live in a time where artists, musicians and film producers don’t need to depend on some centralized organization to have their creative works heard. Art is NOT a industry. Art of ANY form is a EXPRESSION of INDIVIDUAL thought.

You are right about the major “entertainment” companies. If Francis Scott Key was alive today, he would denounce the RIAA.

The RIAA censor more things than religios organizations do.

  5. Artist Certificate Says:

Long ago in USSR musicians, painters and writes use to have Communist party Culture dep certificate to do work. With these certificates artists were protected including copyright etc. I think RIAA and similar should be dismantled the same way as a Berlin’s wall…

  6. Reader's Write Says:

    Extreme Capitalism=Communism.

In the first you have no freedom because all the power is in the hand of a small group of people in charge of few megacorporations not operating under a democratic system.

In the former you have no freedom either because all the power is in the end of a small group of people that control a non-democratic governement.

Peace is between these two extremes. We have to make sure we stay there.

  7. 666 Says:

Whether the RIAA victim is a soldiers wife, a prostitute, a waitress or a brain surgeon is totally irrelevant. Justice is supposed to be blind, remember?

  8. Reader's Write Says:

But if we disband the **AAs, where would all of the out of work Maf*a people do? and their families?

They would need to go back to extorting local business for quick cash!
