mininova nails TV distribution deal

p2pnet news | TV:- Mininova, probably the Net’s largest and most popular torrent listing site, is still breaking records.
It’s just busted through the three billion .torrent download barrier and with that under its belt, has chalked up another major first.
Pariah Island, a new half-hour comedy series which parodies reality TV shows, has selected mininova as its one and only distribution channel, making it the first site of its kind to work directly with a content producer.
Behind Pariah Island is the Red Band Film Co, which clearly knows which way is up, unlike the major Hollywood studios.
Sites such as mininova represent a distribution medium which can be partnered, “in a true participatory arrangement,” it states.
Just like a network TV show
So what’s Pariah Island like?
It’s being produced in exactly the same way as they a regular network television program, shot in hi-def to meet the latest network TV production standards.
But initially, it’ll be released online only.
“It will look and feel just like a network TV show, but hopefully without the bad writing, lousy plots, unfunny jokes and obession with divorced lead characters” and, “Oh, and less boob jobs,” says Redband.
With ‘Try to survive. Try not to suck’ as its slogan, how can it go wrong?
Nor is this the end of it
Not even nearly.
There’s a lot more happening in the wings, mininova tells p2pnet.
Definitely stay tuned.

Ill be checking out the show just for the fact they even thought about using torrents to distribute the content.

“the three billion .torrent download barrier” means absolutely nothing for a public tracker because the downloaders don’t have to visit the website in the first place. I’d say Red Band got taken, but then I’d also be curious to know how many people actively browse all the mininova torrents. They must have decided, whatever the number, it was more than they could attract through their own website?
