Dell splashes $1.4B on EqualLogic
p2pnet news | Product News:- Dell says it’s buying iSCSI company EqualLogic for $1.4 billion.
“The move comes less than three months after EqualLogic filed for an IPO,” says InternetNews.com. “EqualLogic has more than doubled sales annually since 2004.”
The story has analyst Tony Asaro saying the company boasts more than 3,500 customers to date and, “I think it’s a great move, right in your face. The SMB market is massive, and no one owns it.”
iSCSI allows for commands and storage traffic to occur over existing Internet protocol networks, leading to lower costs for multiple hardware and easier maintenance, says The Street.
“Our customers will be dealing with the largest increase in data we have seen in our history over the next few years,” said Michael Dell, chairman and CEO of Dell, in the story.
