There is so much scaremongering about virii on windows, mostly from reprogrammed, smug (and annoyingly adamant) regurgitators of individual Mac user microcosmic franchise marketing material and undoubtedly corporate sponsored terrorism purveyed by the very creators of utterly inconsequential anti-virus bloatware.

If you truly know enough about computers it doesn’t really matter if it is linux, windows, OS/2 or OSX. You will be able to secure any of them from harm whether or not the OS itself is patched up to date. Most problems are caused by user error or naivety. Just a few simple steps will reduce the virii and malware to zero without installing any rubbish that is probably phoning home and slowing your computer to half impulse, rather than preventing any hoodoo voodoos.

Quicktime IS malware for windows.
In the good old days of global computer ignorance, companies like Apple made a right mess of many a good windows system with their uninstallable Quicktime IED.
Realplayer was no better and is definitely another for the blacklist.

Don’t even bother installing them
Do NOT encourage people to use these bizarrely extrinsic codecs.
You have been warned, citizen!

If you don’t believe me (and believe me I KNOW Apple zealot drones will not) simply search Google for ‘quicktime malware’ and ‘realplayer malware’ and attempt to get your mind back by reading a selection of the millions of hits..

if we take the current popular media statistic of windows having 95% market share and mac with 5%. if you made computer viruses for a living(e.g your only source of money) which would you write code for windows or mac. Add to this the fact that mac users are normally more computer aware than dumb windows users. finally windows takes up to several months to fix holes in there security but macs get updates quicker(up too 2 weeks).

viruses know run at about 120,000 for windows 1000 for mac and 7-12 for Lunux(red hat)
