New Canadian GooTube

p2pnet news | Advertising:- Google has generously presented us Canadians with our very own YouTube!

Well Gee, fellas, thanks!

“At a press conference yesterday morning, company officials said the new site is designed to promote Canadian-generated content,” says Report on Business, going on:

“Videos posted by Canadians will appear in the ‘featured videos’ and ‘promoted videos’ sections of the site.”

First up at 9:05 PST was a feature on The Roadies, an American band. Next came Montreal’s Dee with an ever-shifting pile of boxes. And then there was a Canada vs America in a kitty face-off ;)

So what’s the Canuk GooTube all about, like you didn’t already know?

Advertising.

“Although Google already had the capacity to sell ads aimed solely at Canadians on YouTube, having a dedicated Canadian YouTube community gives the parent company more options to entice advertisers and more opportunities to deliver targeted advertising,” says the story, adding:

“Advertisers can pay for their ads to run on the Canadian site, the community as a whole or both. YouTube offers advertisers a variety of options, including banner ads on its home page, brand-specific channels and the option of paying to be associated with key words in the site’s search function.”

Do you want more ads? Not important. You’ll get ‘em anyway.
