The MPAA, aXXO and The Pirate Bay

p2pnet news | P2P: “In the last 48 hours, several popular BitTorrent sites have shown postings advertising a ‘new website’ for the infamous torrent uploader known as ‘aXXo’,” says a DIGG post.
It goes on:
Even Digg has been targeted by a user known as ‘therock41′, who has only submitted and dugg stories regarding aXXo’s rumored ‘new’ site, axxorelease.com, which is protected by WhoIsGuard.
Hmm…
Hollywood honey trap for the unwary?
That was in September, now, “Sometime during the last 24 hours there was a mass deletion of aXXo torrents from The Pirate Bay’s tracker,” enigmax says on Torrentfreak, going on >>>
It appears that a dispute between aXXo and The Pirate Bay about how to best handle alleged MPAA torrent meddling got way out of hand - with aXXo deleting lots of his torrents and leaving The Pirate Bay.
An estimated one million people download aXXo rips every month, so although there are conflicting opinions in respect of the quality of his work, there can be no dispute that he’s very popular indeed.
While some see him in an almost religious light, others have been quick to take advantage of his popularity for nefarious purposes.
Today, aXXo fans visiting his page on The Pirate Bay were in for a shock, summed up this Pirate Bay user:
C01eMaN - 2007-11-07 00:19 CET:
Whats going on with tpb, all of axxo’s vids are disappearing, any1?
One by one, all torrents released after 7th September 2006 were deleted. But why?
A message on the Pirate Bay comment section seems to sum up the situation and this version of events has been confirmed by aXXo himself, in a couple of places.
hunter1980 - 2007-11-07 12:23 CET:
**************************NOTE**************************
Since the Piratebay staff doesn’t care for their VIP uploaders, then aXXo decided not to use TPB and he deleted his own torrents.
aXXo was constantly exposed to assaults and harassments from possible members of MPAA. Their strategy was to harass aXXo by posting absurd and accusing comments on aXXo’s torrents.
The latest assault incident was especially noticed on aXXo’s last torrent ‘The Simpsons’.
Hunter1980 and aXXo were involved in direct argue with possible members from MPAA.
Unfortunately, this strategy was a success. The strategy was based on rumors and the intention was to spread rumors and all this have had a negative side effects on naive people ( downloaders ).
Since PirateBay did not take any action towards ‘Organized attacks’, aXXo decided to delete his torrent on TPB. aXXo is continuing posting his torrents on mininova or other torrent sites since they care for their VIP uploaders.
***************************END*************************
In a show of protest, Hunter1980 says that he has also deleted all of his torrents from Pirate Bay.
The aXXo world isn’t going to end with the deletion of torrents from The Pirate Bay because they can be found on a number of other torrent sites but it’s never nice to see disputes in the torrent community, especially between great ‘brand’ names.
The deletions have sparked quite a lot of debate on various forums. Some people are angry at The Pirate Bay for allegedly not giving enough support to aXXo while some are wondering if deleting lots of torrents is an appropriate response. Others feel that all uploaders should get the same treatment at The Pirate Bay and that aXXo shouldn’t get special attention. Maybe the Pirate Bay crew simply don’t have time to give anyone special treatment?
Interestingly, not many people seem to be pointing the finger at those who may have made the metaphorical bullets for others to fire - the ‘possible members of the MPAA’ deemed to have taken the original actions which ultimately lead to this (hopefully temporary) breakdown in communication.
If the original MPAA plan was to reduce the availability of aXXo torrents by taking direct or indirect action against them at The Pirate Bay, that sadly seems to have worked, albeit via a strange turn of events. Or maybe it’s nothing to do with the MPAA after all and this is just one big misunderstanding?
Either way, hopefully this aXXo head will be re-attached to the Pirate Bay section of the BitTorrent hydra before it becomes completely severed. Undivided, unconquered.
Stay tuned.

Yes, it was us, together with our friends at the RIAA and MediaDefender. It was great fun screwing up his torrents and finally getting them removed. hehe

Who is aXXO?
November 8th, 2007 at 8:23 am
well, i have been TOLD… that he is a massive uploader of torrents to various sites, and that his files are always seeded well and of an acceptable/high quality.

aXXo is a prick remaking releases and adding his own name.. Huntard and aXXo were victims of a flamer in a Simpsons torrent, they couldnt handle the waves of flames comming towards them, and TPB admins dont moderate comments. Huntard and aXXo got paranoied and thought the flamer was a MPAA spy.. Watching all the comments, its very clear Huntard and aXXo messed up as they took the bate from flamers, and all of the sudden they “forgot” that TPB do not moderate comments.
aXXo wanted to be special, TPB denyed him special treatment, aXXo left in tears deleting all of his stolen releases in the process.
lesson to be learned? after several years on a site, you should know how stuff is handled, not getting special treatment and making a big deal of it sucks.. hope he gets busted some day cause hes a real prick…

TPB…..at one time was good…..Now they are all hung up on themselves and their fame….Maybe if they took time to really manage their trackers…..and their forums….there would be a whole lot less fake files…..and bullshit flame wars….I am all for freedom of speech but when all your doing is putting someone down then its time to shut the fuck up….
And so what does it matter what the source is….almost everyone that uploads steals it from somewhere anyway….so get over it….and enjoy what your getting for free.

that is interesting about the comment thread on that simpsons torrent, i hadnt seen that, but i typically shy away from the comments in tpb.
im kinda leaning that way, just using my demonoid more often and keeping away from tpb. seems to be getting a bit arrogant.

There is a lot of pay RIAA/MPAA paid trollers on many p2p comunity forums. People have to learn how to ignore them. That’s all it takes.
Anyway all the RIAA/MPAA illegal and immoral acitvity is futile because the calculation indicate that given the curent volume you have to reduce the number of uploader down to mor than 98% to start seeing a decrease in file availibility. At most they can reduce it by less than 3% at the very best and this is optimistic.

sickofwhiners, TPB did what they have always done, the one that was arrogant was aXXo for thinking he would get special treatment because he cant stand other people expressing their opinions about “his” releases.
Its wrong to censor, he uploaded alot and provided a benefit for many, but should he get special treatment that goes against everything TPB is all about? h-ll NO…
aXXo got arrogant, thinking he was special and should get better treatment then other pirates. TPB stands where they have always stood, against internet censoring and for freedom of speech etc.. aXXo forgot what TPB is all about.
then you get to stuff like bo said, well private or more closed trackers are better then TPB for sure, but they have the opposite message from what TPB is all about, imagine if google/yahoo etc. went private and you had to register to search the internet
then they ban you from searching stuff, and sell your info to ad companies.. oh wait.. xd

I never go to TPB. They have the mentallity that they are the best. And Im a huge fan of aXXo. People are always saying that he just redoes scene releases and puts his name up. Well then if that is the case where are the scene releases of the movies he has put up? Check any of the sites for a certain movie and there are only a few good uploader names to go by.
I dont think Ive ever seen something from Axxo stateing he rips them himself or just redoes a scene release. I frankly dont care. If a movie is uploaded and I know the release groups name then it should be good. Look how many times kvcd TUS group has reencoded something to that format.
TPB should monitor the forums and torrent comments and remove any flaming ot bad comments about uploaders as a form of respect. Mininova has no problem monitoring comments and removing ones.

I am in complete agreement with Reader’s Write….
aXXo’s downfall will be of their own doing, that is what happens when you are arrogant, young, silly, break the law and think you are a hero or just think you are special….. whatever….

A.X.X.O is the best . . .
And TPB didn’t respect his work

Hey guys, just give aXXo and TPB a hug of forgiveness or solidarity, and take any residual frustrations out on the RIAA and MPAA.

Maybe learn more about file sharing, including anonymous/encrypted p2p or stuff like that.
