Warner Bros swallows TT Games

p2pnet news | Games:- Warner Bros has bought TT Games Group, the British creator of Lego Star Wars videogames.
“TT Games is responsible for Lego Star Wars and the Bafta award-winning Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy which has sold more than six million units worldwide,” says vnunet.
“With TT Games onboard, WBIE will publish Lego Batman: The Videogame worldwide in 2008, as well as Speed Racer: The Videogame and Project Origin, the highly anticipated sequel to the hit game F.E.A.R. by Monolith Productions.”
Financial details haven’t been announced but, “A self-confessed ‘geek’ who spent his teenage years playing computer games in his bedroom has sold his company – for around £100m ($209,554,283 today),” says the Manchester Evening News, going on:
“Jon Burton invented his own video games but he struggled to sell them to software companies. But since setting up his own business in 1989 he has sold more than 42 million copies.
“The Cheshire-based firm Traveller’s Tales became one of the world’s biggest independent game developers creating titles based on Star Wars, Toy Story, The Muppets, Finding Nemo and Sonic the Hedgehog for industry giants such as Sony, Sega and Pixar.”
It was renamed TT Games after merging with publisher Giant Interactive Entertainment in 2005, says the story, adding:
“The company on Toft Road, Knutsford, is best known for its success with Lego Star War.”
