RIAA’s Matt Oppenheim: the bad penny?

p2pnet news | RIAA News:- Theoretically, Matt ‘The Dentist’ Oppenheim doesn’t work for Warner Music, EMI, Vivendi Universal and Sony BMG’s RIAA any more.
We say ‘theoretically’ because somehow, he keeps on turning up in RIAA cases.
p2pnet posted recently:
He acquired the sobriquet following his attack on Jesse Jordan in 2004.
He left the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) to work for Jenner & Block, another Big 4-favoured law firm.
Said RIAA president Cary Sherman at the time:
While we are disappointed that Matt is leaving, we are delighted that he will be joining the firm of Jenner & Block where we will continue to rely on him.
Truer words were never spoken.
Now Oppenheim’s name has appeared in another RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) case.
This time a ‘John Doe’ George Washington University student has made a motion to, “vacate the RIAA’s ex parte discovery order, quash the subpoena issued pursuant to the order, and to dismiss the complaint in Arista v. Does 1-19,” says Ray Beckerman on Recording Industry vs The People.
And the case is being handled personally by none other than by Matthew Oppenheim, says the post.
He also featured in the Jammie Thomas case.
“To me, Mr. Oppenheim is a mystery figure, whose shadowy role in these cases is quite problematic, and not at all clear, especially in view of the collusive and cartel-like behavior of the Big 4 record companies hiding behind the RIAA shell,” said Beckerman.
