AT&T Big Brother spy system

p2pnet news | Freedom:- It won’t be long before small- and medium-size businesses can spy on their employees from a distance
And parents will be able to spy on their kids.
AT&T plans to introduce a nationwide program to peddle, “some of the same tools big security companies offer for monitoring employees, customers and operations from remote locations,” says the New York Times.
With AT&T’s Remote Monitor program, “a business owner could install adjustable cameras, door sensors and other gadgets at up to five different company locations across the country,” says the story.
“Using a Java-enabled mobile device or a personal computer connected to the Internet, the owner would be able to view any of the images in real time, control room lighting and track equipment temperatures remotely. All the images are recorded on digital video, which can be viewed for up to 30 days.”
Admits Beaux Roby, owner of a chain of five Mama’s Café restaurants and two banquet halls in Texas, “It is Big Brother, but in this day and age, you need these type of tools”.
The NYT says Roby has been using AT&T’s remote spy app for nine weeks as part of a pilot program.
On its site, AT&T says costs range from $200 for a fixed camera starter kit on one site to $350 for multiple cameras.
Monthly monitoring charges go from $10for a single location to $40 for five locations.

Does this guy work for the Bush administration or something? If not…. he should! That is about the stupidest statement I have heard.
Why do we “need” a “big brother” type of security all of a sudden?
I don’t think we do. Enough of our freedoms are being taken away. This is just one more example of how companies want to completely control employees.

yeah its pretty creepy the whole idea of being watched at work but hey thats economics for ya workers can work for a more “privatized” company instead if they dont like the cameras…and probably get paid less to.
