Video of man’s Taser death online

p2pnet news | Off Topic:- An online video of the death of Robert Dziekanski, a distraught Polish immigrant Tasered by police at Vancouver International airport, has shocked millions of people around the world.
Dziekanski died moments after the darts, lethally charged with electricity, were fired into his body.
He fell to the ground writhing in agony and seconds later, RCMP officers were kneeling on his neck to handcuff him.
Paul Pritchard of Victoria, on Vancouver Island, BC, captured the incident, which took place on October 14. But the video, held by police, wasn’t released until last night.
The Toronto Star is running it in full.
“This is a tragic and grievous incident,” public security minister Stockwell Day says in the Vancouver Sun.
“We want to find out answers that can prevent these things from happening in the future.”
Reports say 17 Canadians have died after being shot with Tasers.

here in the us things like this happen on daily occurance tazers are often used as weapons of murder for the police officers but they are covered up quickly and no one hears about them.

They should put the tasers away and just use guns like real men should.

How dose a cop with a tazer differ from a terrorist with a car battery?
Would not a simple tranquilizer dart be more humane and civilized.

This tazers are dangerous and this is not fair for the cops to ask them to use it.
How would you fell if you have killed somebody with a tazer even if you did not mean it?
The fact that the law let you go away with it does not make it right. The good cops know that.
It seems that the cops are too eager to use tazer as an easy expediant.
YOU DON’T USE A TAZER ON A GUY EXPERIENCING MENTAL COMFUSION!
YOU HELP HIM DAM IT!
I they don’t ban tazers then I will encourage every citizen to carry a tazer proof vest, a rubber bullet gun, few stunt grenades and of course a tazer just in case. In the US the constitution allow us to do so.
Meanwhile I am going to buy myself an arsenal of these.

in the video i could see nothing but a trigger happy rcmp officer with a taser gun . now they will lie their faces off tell this is forgotten . the rcmp officers who did this to this man should be in jail right now . but they are probably at home talking to each other about what they can do or say to make someone believe them . the man who took the film should be collecting their wages if they are on a paid leave .

the police is using taser on inocent people . they should stop to use it . on airport incident is very painful to me . the policeman used taser on polish man should leave this service because he is not able to do this job

Too sad to write about, but why did the officer shout “hit him again” after he was already on the ground and yelling from pain from the first tasering? What most of us are thinking here is “did we all just witness and intentional murder”?

If four (4) officers can’t control one (1) unarmed man with out using a taser then these officers are not trained properly and should not be wearing a uniform. In BC there are seven (7) inquiries waiting to be held and all of them are death while in custody. In Houston BC a young man was in custody at the police station and was shot in the BACK of the head by a cop, and his reason was that he was scared for his life. Your right, nothing happened to the RCMP officer. It’s not just the RCMP but city police too.

Before they even confront him one asks the other if he can taze him and is given permission. They should have realized he didnt speak english and found someone to interpret although it would have been tough not knowing where he was from except for the fact that it would be on his PASSPORT!!!!
I can understand if a cop feels threatened to taze someone but when they went in the room they all fanned out which could have panicked him. But i didnt see any agretion on his part when they came in. Although he dont know what was said. But it wouldnt have mattered cause he wouldnt have understood them.
What I would like to know is do cops get tazed so they know how it feels? Adnn I dont mean for a slpit second like they show in demonstations. I mean them getting tazed and flayling around on the ground for 5-10 seconds. I think the tazer guns need a setting or some way of just giving a short one second burst. Cause in some situations one second is gonna do the trick. And if someone is high on drugs itll take more then that sometimes.
It never should have escalated as far as it did.

Tazers are considered a non lethal weapon for a reason. Death resulting from being tazed is an extremely rare occurrence. The man was obviously not in the correct frame of mind, as evidenced from his throwing things and aggressiveness. I’m sure the officers felt that instead of beating the man or forcing him to the ground, it would be better for them to subdue him with the tazer and restrain him until they could get a translator to communicate with the man.
Yes, police officers along with security guards do get tazed so they know how it feels. This is true in most cases, but not all. (depends on departmental policy). I know several people in law enforcement that have been tazed and got the whole 5 seconds (the length a police issue tazer works).
When the officers said hit him again, the tazer had already stopped. The man was simply fighting. You have to realize, that when the tazer quits, there are no lasting effects. When it is done, it’s done.

“Would not a simple tranquilizer dart be more humane and civilized.”
I don’t think so. You’d have to decide how much tranquilizer you where going to put into it, and what kind. Under ideal circumstances you would shoot a person with just enough to put them out. Because people have different body weights, if you put amount X of drug X into all the darts, you would have everyone you shoot responding differently. Shooting them with too little wouldn’t put them out, and shooting them with too much might damage their organs or even kill them. So you would need to ether pre-load the darts with drugs, and hope for the best (maybe load them with about a quarter of a dose and shoot people multiple times?) or have the cops franticly trying to guess an attacker’s weight so they can put the right dose into a dart. Plus, i think i might have read somewhere that a taser has greater stopping power then drugs, and maybe even more than a handgun. i think i read somewhere that a psychotic person can be shot multiple times and not really be too fussed, but will respond to the taser.

The problem i have is they talked about tazing him before they even entered the room. he never lunged at the officers or anything. With four cops and 2 security guys in the other room they could have difused the situation better. They more then likely heard the person say that he didnt speak english and should have realized that him being in a secure area would not have any weapons on hand. Ive seen cops break up bar fights with out using tazers.

Had the police wanted to kill the Polish man they would have used bullets. They used a tazer to bring him under control. His death was unintentional. His anger may have been unintentional. Nobody knows for sure, there are so many ifs ands and maybes. We do know that police die in the performance of their duty. They are paid to protect. They have to work fast, they do not have the benefit of hindsight. Had the Polish man not lost control of his anger he would be alive today. He picked up a stapler. The police can hardly be expected to root through office desks looking for other staplers so the fight would be more even. Law and order. That is what we pay them for,
law and order is what they delivered.
May 9th, 2009 at 11:01 pm
hey ab-
law and order is not what they delivered. they delivered death and oppression, including suppression of the facts to this day.
bottom line is as mentioned there are MANY members of paramilitary groups (police forces) across Canada and around the world that should not be wearing the uniform.
these members stand out as far as im concerned. this is a real shame they decided to be the hand of righteousness in light of the trivial nature of the confrontation.
if it was me (barring any way around it) he’d end up with a sore face…and im not ‘trained’…
i certainly wouldnt zap a woman holding her baby with one of these devices and thats been done in recent memory too…some training!!
