MPAA, stalking kiddie movie crooks

p2pnet news | Movies:- “This weekend Emma and I watched the Bee Movie and Yup, a couple of kids were snapping away,” I posted last Tuesday.
Emma is my 11-year-old daughter and the snapping referred to the fact a couple of other kids in the audience had used their cellphone camera features during the performance.
The chances that the resulting images would be used to further undermine the major quote devastated unquote Hollywood movie studios were zip to zero.
But you never know, right? Like, a kid with a cam could be a major movie copyright criminal.
Right?
And if they’d been in Chicago in the States, particularly if Gene Harris and Gary Kissinger had been around, the Canadian children could have been in deep, deep trouble.
They could have been arrested, ending up with police records as part of the grotesque US and government-sanctioned overkill being used routinely by the studios to protect ‘product’.
Because Harris and Kissinger are among those described by the Chicago Tribune as, “undercover movie cops” who get into the cinema “through separate doors” hoping to “catch a pirate in the act”.
The MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) is Hollywood’s Top Cop, so to speak, and anyone wielding anything which looks even remotely like a video recording device is, in MPAA parlance, a ‘pirate’ —- a thief and a criminal whose object in life is to have a negative affect on the bottom lines of Time Warner, Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney, aka Hollywood, who are reporting best-ever revenues in the mind-boggling billions.
And to make sure things stay that way, the likes of Harris and Kissinger stalk the darkened isles. They “Move seats often. Check night-vision scopes. Spot the offender.”
The Chicago Tribune goes on:
Yet as the two walked into a matinee on a recent Friday, suspects, it seemed, would be in short supply. The duo had entered a showing of “Martian Child,” the new PG-rated John Cusack comedy, and the average age of those in attendance was probably around 11. If we had mentioned piracy to this group, they probably would’ve pictured Johnny Depp.
The kids carried candy, snacks and soda to their seats, while the Motion Picture Association of America investigators patrolled the aisles, pointing out spots in the center-back section where a “cammer,” as they’re called in the industry, would most likely set up to illegally film the screen. As the lights dimmed in the theater, the men took out their night-vision scope and began to work in earnest —-”
—- looking for kiddie camcording copyright crooks.
And Hollywood takes no prisoners.

I was going to go buy the movie but instead I think I’ll watch small grainy, shaky clips with bad audio of the movie instead. Who needs HD DVD or Blu-ray or surround sound when you can get phone clips? Instead of popcorn I’ll pop aspirin to take care of the headache I get when trying to watch these things on a regular computer monitor. Let alone a big high def TV.

One has to bear in mind that these kiddie crooks will one day be adults with no morals. It is therefore best to indelibly mark them now as the potential criminals that they are.

Just go to a drive-in theater. people could be doing all manner of evil things unnoticed in the audience unnoticed. I’m glad my tax dollars are being wasted on things like this instead of going after the local drug dealers. Oh and according to username upright citizen, If we don’t stop these children they will join the mpaa, riaa, etc.
