Hollywood, movie cartels in presidential race

p2pnet news | Politics:- “Anyone who believes things are as bad as they can get with self-interest corporate groups undermining freedom of choice, freedom of expression and freedom of speech should prepare themselves,” p2pnet posted in May, going on:
“There’s a new anti-consumer gang in town, and it’ll be more actively poisonous than anything you’ve ever seen before.”
We were referring to the Copyright Alliance meant to, “convince increasingly skeptical members of the general public and policymakers that copyrights are something special that deserve protection,” as the Hollywood Reporter put it at the time.
Now, in what is probably its first major effort, the so-called alliance wants 2008 presidential candidates to add “meaningful copyright protection” to their platforms.
It’s sending a ‘questionnaire‘ to candidates, demanding they fill it in, “to let the creative community know of your commitment to copyright and artists’ rights”.
The implied threat is: if they don’t do what the entertainment cartels want, they won’t get entertainment cartels support, which could mean the difference between getting good and bad lamescream print and electronic media coverage.
“The future of our creative output in the United States is at stake in the 2008 presidential election,” says the questionnaire, dramatically, and going on:
It is critical not only for members of the creative community but also for the U.S. economy to ensure that copyrights are respected and piracy is reduced. We are asking you to let us know what you would do to help preserve one of America’s greatest strengths, its creative community.
See enclosed a short questionnaire addressing issues of burning interest to all of us in the creative community. Please provide us with your responses if at all possible by January 7th, 2008. The Copyright Alliance is sending such questionnaires to all of the presidential candidates, and we will be informing the creative community and the public at large where our presidential candidates stand on copyright and artists’ rights. We would also welcome the opportunity to come in and meet with your staff to discuss these important topics; you can have a staff member reach me at the contact information below.
Meanwhile, presidential candidates may be the immediate targets, but the group as others in mind.
Schools at all levels can expect a flood of industry created and supplied materials and ‘instructors’ because the music, movie and software cartels also promise to ‘educate’ and motivate our children, saying:
It’s never too early to learn the value of copyright. In fact, every time a child takes crayon to paper, he or she has created a copyrighted work, but how many know the rights they’ve just earned?
Educators across the country recognize the value of incorporating an understanding of copyright into lesson plans, but the resources haven’t always been readily available. The Copyright Alliance, as part of its educational mission, aims to identify valuable curriculum guides and other educational resources and make those resources available to educators.
Hollywood Howard Berman acts against senior educational establishments, asking questions on behalf of the cartels.
He hasn’t yet shown up for the Copyright Alliance. But he will.
And will we soon see warmly congratulatory endorsements from the RIAA and MPAA which will, of course, act as Copyright Alliance enforcers?
Stay tuned.
