Miarose — ’so cute like a Smurf’

p2pnet news | Music:- Yesterday we ran an item about Disney’s ‘home-made’ Marie Digby and her ‘amazing’ success.
Another Britney Spears in the making? That’d be good for her but for the rest of us ….
Then there’s Miaarose, “so cute like a smurf”.
p2pnet’s Catflap has been watching her and posted this >>>
Miaarose is a much better example.
Her home-made videos of covers (karaoke-style or with acoustic guitar) and original songs have been viewed more often.
Her MySpace page and YouTube pages show she joined in September 2006 and December 2006, respectively. Her MySpace music profile shows she joined July 27, 2007.
December 29, 2006, she uploaded the first of her videos – a karaoke version of ‘Beautiful Disaster’ – to YouTube. Mia was 18 at the time and within a week had developed a huge fan base, so she continued recording and uploading videos.
Born Maria Antonia Sampaio Rosa in Wimbeldon, London, to a British dad and Portuguese mom, she did some modeling in London at an early age, but spent much of her life in Portugal at an American school, so she has no trace of a British accent.
In the spring of 2007, Mia was signed by ‘NextSelection’, a major label, according to her YouTube page.
From what I’ve been able to piece together, she went to Switzerland to record a demo. Then off to New York to meet with NextSelection and/or other labels.
Although her last MySpace and YouTube message is months old, Mia certainly hasn’t been lazy. Transplanted to the Big Apple – into an apartment presumably set up through her label – her most recent YouTube video (guitar solo of My Chemical Romance’s ‘I Don’t Love You’) was uploaded November 13, 2007.
She’s also uploaded videos of her recording sessions and album cover/publicity photo shoots.
Her single ‘Hold Me Now!’ was supposed to have been released at the end of July, 2007. i don’t know if it’s been released for sale, but it’s featured on her MySpace musician’s page.
I’m aware there have been some internet conspiracy theories and controversies surrounding exactly who Mia is and how she just burst onto YouTube and gathered millions of fans in such a short time. Theories suggest she’s a plant and that her label created hundreds of YouTube memberships just to subscribe to her name. As far as I can tell, none of this has ever been proved. To see the truth according to Mia, go here:

‘HALLO!!! its me … havent done a movie for a while.. sorry bout that! anyways … heres the truth for you all!! whoever wants to believe it great!! whoever doesnt i dont really care!! anyways!!! much love Miarose’
her official websites are:http://www.youtube.com/user/miaarose

Says Dreddsnik ..
The largest clue …….
She’s doing covers of RIAA material – and no takedown notices seem to have been issued.
Takedown notices have been issued for something as ridiculous as using RIAA material as background noise in posted home videos, yet somehow, this person can use RIAA material and not have it yanked?
Conspiracy theory or not – makes me suspicious.
“whoever wants to believe it great!! whoever doesnt i dont really care!! anyways!!! much love Mia”
Miarose and I have that in common, when it comes to her ‘music’.
So. Is she or isn’t she?

Most supporters of P2P and video sites like Youtube, etc, have been saying,
since the beginning that the promotional value, the EXPOSURE, for the artists is
worth it’s weight in gold.
So, if there were ANY loss due to P2P or video sharing ( there isn’t ) it would be
EASILY offset by this exposure.
The industry says that such exposure doesn’t benefit them, that sharing supporters are dead wrong.
That’s one of the reasons they have to lie about people like this.
1. Acknowledging that they use the media they decry for the purposes of promotion,
shows that they KNOW full well the benefits. They would have to acknowledge that
we were right all along.
And if we are right about this, what ELSE might we be right about ?
2. The hatred of the industry is such that a new ‘ artist’ might be dead out of the door
due to customer backlash, so they create a nice , fictional ‘Cinderella Story’ to endear
their new servant to the customer.
They don’t know art or music, but they sure as hell know MARKETING.
