12 days of Xmas: more expensive than ever

p2pnet news | Off Topic:- Speaking of Christmas, in 2007, it’s going to be more expensive than ever before.
And it’s all down to the “significantly higher price of gold and increased compensation for minimum wage workers, according to the PNC Christmas Price Index.
In 2003, “In today’s world, Money Rulz and if you were to set up the 12 Days of Christmas in 2003, it’d cost you a small fortune (’small’ being in the eye of the beholder, of course : ) – namely, $65,264.28, compared to $54,951.31 in 2002.,” p2pnet posted.
It still rulz and this year you’ll have to fork out more than ever before —- $78,100 for all 364 items in the 12 Days list, says PNC.
‘True Loves’ will pay more for the five Gold Rings this year, “as the jewelers who provide the prices for the rings report having no choice but to pass increased prices along to consumers as the price of gold continues to rise,” says the post, going on:
“The eight Maids-a-Milking received their first raise in 10 years when Congress increased the minimum wage to $5.75 an hour earlier this year.”
And they can expect to see further increases in 2008 and 2009, “as Congress has already approved increases to the minimum wage for both years,” says the company.
According to its 23rd annual survey, the cost of ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ is $19,507 in 2007, a 3.1 percent increase over last year.
“The rise in gift prices mirrored the U.S. government’s Consumer Price Index – a widely used measure of inflation calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics,” it states. “The Consumer Price Index is up 3.5 percent so far this year.”
Nor will it be cheaper for people shopping online.
“This year, the trends identified in the traditional index are repeated in the Internet version, with an overall growth of 3 percent, compared to 3.1 percent in the traditional index,” adds PNC.
