Germany close to banning Scientology

p2pnet news | Off Topic:- Germany is close to not merely censuring Scientology, but banning it altogether.

The organisation, dreamed up by deceased sci-fi writer L. Ron Hubbard, is much favoured by some Hollywood names such as Tom Cruise, John Travolta and Kirstie Alley,

However, “Germany’s interior ministers announced Friday that they consider Scientology to be unconstitutional,” says Der Spiegel, going on:

“They have asked the country’s domestic intelligence agency to prepare a dossier on the organization’s activities with a view to ban it next year.”

Berlin interior minister Ehrhart Körting says the interior ministers of Germany’s 16 federal states and the federal interior minister Wolfgang Schäuble “consider Scientology to be an organization that is not compatible with the constitution,” says Der Spiegel.

Germany doesn’t recognize Scientology as a religion, “but sees it as a money-making venture,” says Deutsche Welle, adding:

“The German authorities have viewed Scientology with suspicion for years.”

Former Scientologists, “say that celebrity practitioners get more attention and care than noncelebrity practitioners,” states the Wikipedia.

“For example, former Scientologist Maureen Bolstad has noted that a couple of dozen Scientologists including herself were put to work on a rainy night through dawn planting grass in order “to help Tom impress Nicole [Kidman]”.

Nice to see the Germans have some brains and balls to stand up to these crooks.

  2. Reader's Write Says:

Scientology is a shitty scam and a cult. Good to see this.

  3. Terryeo Says:

Critics yelp at the Church and its help.
    Hubbard predicted suppression precisely.

Psychiatry once powerful, is today less felt.
    Scientology increases churches quite actively.

Critics and shrinks are convinced and certain.
They know too well what is important and not,
and tell us with certainty which knowledge is hot.

    Hubbard suggested: understanding is different,
You then create the effect that you mean.
Efficacy of action broadens your lot.

Thus knowledge alone is useless and dry,
datum or book, law, table or lie.
But understood it gains power and form,
for critics this is the insurmountable thorn.

So… anyone started worshipping Darth Vader or Spock lately?

  5. Eisenhorn Says:

I’d prefer to go worship Slaanesh; God of Sex & Depravity ;-)

As a bonus, it has the same level of reality as scientology

  6. Reader's Write Says:

Hubbard was insane. Anyone who believes anything this tool said or wrote deserves to be insane and poor as a result.

  7. Reader's Write Says:

Yeesh. Am I the only one who finds this disturbing? Yes, scientology has a lot of stigma attached to it, but so do a lot of religions. No rational-thinking person would feel comfortable having Islam outlawed, would they? Yes, scientology is entirely based on the ramblings of some guy who though he was a prophet, but so is every other religion. How is this any different from any of the events leading up to the holocaust?

That’s either a huge head, or a small body.

  9. Eric Says:

It’s one thing to have an organized religion that follows your beliefs, tenets and doctrines.

It is quite another to be organized into an unpaid workforce and be told nonreligious reasons for it. AND to be told you can’t leave the organization just because you don’t agree with them, AND to be bullied and harassed for noncompliance with their orders. (AND about fifteen more ANDs.)

  10. Reader's Write Says:

    1) If Hollywood is associated with it - RUN!!!

    2) If an awesome science fiction writer decides to create a different theological “alternative” - RUN!!!

  11. Reader's Write Says:

dont forget he stole money from his church 200million odd and ordered his followers to infiltrate the IRS and DOD.

oh and they killed a few people!!!

  12. Monkey D. Luffy Says:

While they are at it why don’t they add radical islam to the ban list? Thinking you get 70 virgins for blowing people up in a suicide bombing and beating women for not wearing a burka seems more cult like and dangerous than anything I have read about Scientology. I’m not advocating Scientology, but if you have to pick religions to ban you should start with the most dangerous first.
