Porn company sues porn company
p2pnet news | Movies:- Online pornography purveyor Vivid Entertainment says it’s had enough of PornoTube, claiming the YouTube clone is guilty of piracy.
“The suit is apparently the first of its kind in the adult film industry, which has done a better job than the major Hollywood studios in finding ways to profit from putting entertainment products on the Internet,” says the Los Angeles Times.
“We’ve decided to take a stand and say ‘no more’,” it has Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch declaring. “We will go after all the free sites.”
The Vivid suit echoes Viacom’s against YouTube and, “The question at the heart of both cases is just how hard a website must work to ensure that users don’t post videos belonging to someone else,” says the story., which adds:
“Vivid has an additional beef with PornoTube. Although Vivid is required by law to record the ages and birth names of its performers, PornoTube has an unfair competitive advantage because it doesn’t always comply, according to the lawsuit.”
Vivid is demanding damages of $150,000 per infringed work, says the LA Times, adding PornoTube’s parent is Data Conversions, which does business as AEBN Inc.

God damn. I mean, seriously. I understand that porn downloads could contribute to lost sales more readily than music or video downloads, but one porn company suing another over a YouTube-like service? I’m appalled.
