Microsoft re-jigs PlaysForSure

p2pnet news | Mobiles:- The only thing sure about Microsoft’s PlaysForSure is it doesn’t play. And that’s for sure
Not even for Microsoft’s Zune.
So Bill and the Boyz have decided to fix things by “re-branding” it with a “Certified for Windows Vista” tag, says InformationWeek, going on:
“The certification is used to guarantee compatibility with Microsoft’s copyright-protection software and is the same logo used for the company’s Zune player.
“The problem, however, is that music and video bought from the online Zune Marketplace won’t play in their native format on other devices, including those that will carry the new logo.”
Microsoft’s “Redmond Reality-Distortion Field (RRDF) apparently allows them to convince one another that Vista will soon be ubiquitous,” posts Dale Sundstrom under the story, adding:
“And, they should prepare for and encourage this by giving Vista more visibility; co-branding all the Zunes and music they’ll soon be selling, even forcing music partners to use Vista branding (’till they’re extinguished by Zune). Its crazy; and they don?t appear to be coming up for air anytime soon.”
