Amazon lashes out $4 million for book

p2pnet news | Off Topic:- Neat looking little book. But is it worth $4 million?

It is to online book seller Amazon.

Business must be good, really good.

The book contains fairy tales hand-written and illustrated by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.

And Amazon.com Inc is now the proud owner of one of only seven copies of The Tales of Beedle the Bard, leather bound with silver mounts, says Associated Press.

“The book originally had been expected to sell for about $100,000,” says the story.

The money will benefit The Children’s Voice, a charity co-founded in 2005 by Rowling and Baroness Nicholson, a member of Britain’s House of Lords, says the story.

Speaking of Amazon, we still haven’t heard back from them on the suggestion that they sponsor pirate DVDs.

  1. catflap Says:

i read that a stipulation to the sales is that it is never to be republished or made into a movie. (thank heavens for small mercies!)

but i think amazon has so much money because of their (apparent) pirate dvd and cd sales.

ultimatedvdshop promises on their website that they answer every email within 24-48 hours. that time period has passed and i’m still waiting for an answer, too.
