p2pnet news | Music:- OK. In deference to the people who are jarred by my posts on the likes of Vanessa Hudgens (my favourite 
), Paris Hilton, Linday Lohan, et al, I won’t do a story on the rumours that Britney Spears is pregnant again.
They’ve been floating around for a couple of weeks at the least, some of them claiming the fake priest on whose lap she pearched for a PR shot is the dad. But they’re not true.
However, her sister, Jamie-Lynn, “has told a US magazine she is pregnant at the age of 16,” says the BBC and if the Beeb says it, well …..
“Spears, who plays a schoolgirl in US TV comedy Zoey 101, told OK! magazine the news was a shock to her and the baby’s father, boyfriend Casey Aldridge.”
She says she’s 12 weeks anlong and plans to raise her child in Louisiana for “a normal life,” according to the story.
Like Amy Winehouse, I’ve been saying No, No, No I WON’T do a post on it.
So I won’t.

BUT —- I’ve found by doing the occasional item on mainstream singers, especially those as famous as Spears, I get new people to the site and hopefully, while they’re here they’ll read other posts such as those centering on the depredations of the entertainment cartels. Maybe some of it will rub off on them.
Also, they probably help a little with the IntelliTEXT links (words underlined in green) although they probably don’t do a lot in that respect.
The income from them is so little I’m tempted to drop them. But in my position, it all counts.
As I say in another post addressing this topic:
I feel a little like national public radio or viewer-supported community television. In my own very small way, II’m trying to offer an alternatative to corporate media.
But there’s a BIG difference.
In the latter two cases, funding comes from deep-pocket sponsors, from people who use the services, from corporate donors and from government, and the people who run them are paid salaries which are probably well above the average.
… p2pnet also used to be supported principally by the revenue from five P2P application companies, including Blubster.
Then, due wholly to pressure from the entertainment cartels, the advertisers - the people who’d kept me and p2pnet going - either folded altogether or have become shadows of what they used to be.
Either way, I lost their income.
These days, I’m supported by Pablo Soto over in Spain: he runs Blubster and he’s been solidly behind p2pnet from Day One.
Then, when it looked like I’d have to sell p2pnet, someone in the US who, for his own excellent reasons, remains anonymous, stepped in, and he’s been providing most of p2pnet’s income.
But Pablo and Mr X barely cover costs and I live month to month, not a lot of fun.
So without wishing to offend anyone or turn anyone off, items on Spears and the like will continue to appear.
Anyway, they’re often interesting and/or amusing in a grisly sort of way

It’s a thought. But this is a one-man operation and I have enough trouble keeping one site going, still leaving time to be a home-schooling dad.
I get up at 3:30 am and I haven’t played any of my musical instruments for ages

Sorry Jon, you’ve strayed from your mission statement which you so proudly display all over your site and even in the HTML title of every page. It’s not as easy as you say it is to ignore certain content you publish. It’s right there on my RSS feed like a bruise on a banana. It’s the exact opposite of what I want from your site and it repels me. You’ve basically found a new way to display blinking pop-up ads that cannot be blocked with AdBlock.
I empathise with your situation but you’ve compromised your ideals for money. I can’t see it in any other light. I feel like you value my clickthroughs more than my satisfaction in the education you provide me. You’ve served me very well this past year or so and I truly wish you well, but this is no longer the website for me.

This is his JOB. He doesnt sit behind some computer with some editor and company behind him prodding and pushing him along to produce stories. He sits behind that computer to bring to you stories that affect people online and offline when it comes to the digital world we all live in, why because he feels that the way he can contribute to each and all of us.
So he does a story like this now and then, is it so hard to ignore the words britney spears, or paris hilton and so on and on. Or is that you cant ignore them and it drives you to click and read about thier lives and the artists who are in the music biz, and feel guilty afterwords that again you succumbed to the evil that is celebrity gossip.
I may not click on the most ads, or donate money, but i show Jon through my repeated connections to his site that what news he collects and brings forth is important to me.

it’s reported that jamie lynn sold here pregnancy story to OK! magazine in the UK for an undisclosed sum.
she’s 16 so she must have her mother’s permission to do anything like that, so what kind of a parent would exploit - and allow her underage daughter to exploit - herself like that?
of course in their eyes, it’s good publicity that pays well. just let her kid get pregnant, brag about it and sell the story and the money rolls in for mom, who’s probably never worked a day in her life.
what a great mom she is. what a role model.

This is how Jon asked me to rationalize it when I first stated my disdain for these tabloid stories, and I held on for a month or so, but now I see things differently - as they are, in my opinion.
There’s a table at the supermarket covered in bananas. There’s a sign that says “FREE BANANAS”. These are no ordinary bananas, they’re the most delicious ones, hand picked by PhDs from the world’s healthiest trees. One of the free bananas has a bruise. Do you take it or do you reach over 2cm and take an unbruised one?
I return to make these comments because I empathize with Jon and I WANT to subscribe to the RSS, but I hate the tabloid stuff. Why should I come here every day just to pretend to ignore things I hate? Not separating that content from the main site is literally poison. It’s like the dope dealer, saying the first one’s free but the next one is gonna cost you.
This is my opinion, not fact. Don’t take me too seriously, Jon. I’m probably the minority. Unfortunately you’ve alienated this minority.
p.s., I believe you replied to my earlier comment but later deleted your reply. To censor yourself but not your critics takes a strong moral fibre. I wish that same credibility could be awarded to the consistency of your content here. I’m sad to say goodbye but this isn’t the P2Pnet I signed up to. So goodbye.
