Yeah, Saved games and such you SHOULD transfer but you can redownload any content purchased before and you can just import you account using Xbox Live. One of my friends actually did this on my Xbox, but for a day it didn't work. When he went back home all day he couldn't because it kept saying "You have imported your account to another console, please recover it again." but he couldn't recover it.

"Ethernet port for network connectivity there is no way to get the two machines to talk to each other without a magic cable."

Does he mean an ethernet crossover cable?
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=ethernet+crossover+cable&hl=en&num=100&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&cr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=&as_rights=&safe=images

You can make them. Or get two straight through cables and put a hub or switch between the two consoles' ethernet ports.

Console directly to console uses crossover.
Console to switch/hub to another console requires two straight through cables. (There are exceptions, but let's keep it simple.) No link light = problem.

That's the way it should work. Does the 360 elite require a special ethernet cable with a proprietary connector? All this DRM trash makes my wallet close so I don't have a game console. I'm just guessing.

Welcome to the year 2005. If you want the same movie/music/game on two separate pieces of machinery the Entertainment Cartel wants you to pay for it each time. Actually makes more sense to me with the XBox, as you could each be playing the Arcade game which you only purchased once on two Xboxes at the same time, which is a bit different that having a copy of an mp3 on your desktop, on your mp3 player, and in your car as a cd, all which you would be listening to at separate times.

I've only had an Xbox for maybe a week, but I noticed you can re-download stuff from Xbox Live. I would assume that re-downloading something you paid for is free and would likely restore the license.
